RAFLESIA ARNOLDI

the vast archipelago and the graet number of island has made indonesian the home of a large varienti of plant life .the indonesian flora ranges from the tiny orchid to the giant raflesia plant . no wonder many botanist are curious to study these plants.the ralesia arnoldi is biggest fower in the world .it is unusual because of it large itslarge size.it has a flower almost a metre in diameter and 1:40 meters in height.raflesia is delivered from the name of the british governor general , sir thomas stamford raffles,who once governed and built botanical gardens in bogor . though its raflessia after raffles,the man who discovered the plant was "beccary" ,an italian botanish who visited sumatra in 1928.
raflesia consist of two part :the stick-like part witch grow in the middle and the petal around and below it. the raflesia plant begin s to flower in its ten years. it blooms three of four times a years. before it begin flower , the leaves and the stem become dryu and look dead ,but the ain root in the ground is still alive.while the flower is blossoming ,it has avery unpleasant smell which attract insect ,esspesialy green flies .yhey seem eager to explore the flower .but if the flies touch the bottom part of the stick like centre ,they die.
